This department is the latest addition to the institute in line with developing modalities of treatment. Modern Chemotherapeutic agents have brought a dramatic change in the outcome for several cancers like leukemias, lymphomas, childhood cancers and many cancers in adults.
Medical Oncology has evolved as an important branch for cancer treatment. It's applications are expanding dramatically today as newer drugs and molecules are being introduced.

Our hospital's pharmacy is stocked with most of the commonly used chemotherapy drugs which are given free of cost to the white cardholders and poor patients with assistance from AP state illness fund. The Medical Oncology department caters to the needs of all types of cancers in different age groups with the help of highly experienced nursing staff in handling anti-cancer drugs.
We opened 14 pediatric intensive care medical oncology ward.
We are doing two lung cancer trails which are multinational and multi center in no time sponsored by Allos and Ablexian both are USA based companies of great repute.
ICON TRAIL is sponsored for one more trail to compare chemotherapy with low molecular weight heparin with & without chemotherapy a low molecular weight heparin.
Breast Cancer Trail ,Colorectal cancer is also done in our department . |

Clinical Activities: |

The department is conducting OPD clinics every day from 9am to 12 noon. |

About 100 new cases are being referred to the department in a month. Most of these cases are acute leukemias including child hood leukemias, lymphomas, germ cell tumors and gestational trophoblastic disease. |

In addition to this many solid tumors are also seen e.g. Cancers of breast, ovary, colon, stomach, PNET/E wing's sarcoma. Significant numbers of pediatric solid tumors are also seen. |

Inpatient strength is 30. The department is able to provide optimum care to these patients. |
